Not sure on the reason for splitting the two types of item - but the improvement is that the Material Storage is in addition to the City Storage. So overall capacity is greatly increased as a result.
This is REALLY annoying! I now have to look in three different storage bins to find everything I have instead of one place.

Understand the intent. Issue being that the beta version has a greatly reduced storage capability for raw materials, negating all the upgrades I’ve made over time to the city storage. Realize it’s a beta, but being ‘volunteered’ as a beta tester mid all the events going on is just dumb.
Anyway, to an earlier reply, yes, have a ticket in process.
