Sorry for replying to myself but I missed something...
Hey Rocco,
I love your musical selection - Edwin Starr 🙂 - pretty cool
i probably would have gone with War’s “Why can’t we be friends” ... but I think yours works much better 🙂
Thanks for the laugh 😀
Guys, if you take this too seriously you’ll miss the subtle humor...
PinnacleValley:
I've read several posts you submitted, and sometimes we already answered each others in other threads. While with different opinions, you never called someone a "total idiot" or a d-bag just because he was telling things far away from your thoughts. And that's fine.
I don't care if my interlocutor is General Swhartzkpof, rather than Ghandi, rather than Einstein, rather than the fool on the hill. He's a human, just like me. I don't need to list my pedigree. I don't need to know who got a bigger IQ or a bigger someother thing. And I don't need to gain the respect from people not respectful.
We're not talking about philosophy, global pollution or world peace, it's about a game.
So let's talk about the game.
I am a competitor too. My favorite soccer team is Juventus FC, which motto is "winning is not important, is the only thing that counts!". My club is a competitive one, and we like wars where both clubs keep shooting like there's no tomorrow.
I don't like the dome strategy. My club don't like the dome strategy. I'll be the first to be glad if EA adjust it somehow. IMO they won't. For a lot of reasons. For example: How many players wrote in this forum complaining about it? A lot, sure, but far less than 0,1% of people playing SCB. Is it enough? Surely not. Other example: there's only a global server, with clubs from the whole world. Every solution I've read about doing "timed" domes would be good with continental-dedicated servers, but with such different timezones in a single server, it would become unfair: having to go at work, or to sleep would mean loosing a war. So if 100 players until now wrote here complaining about actual dome (100? not counted, but probably they're no more than 50), how many players would write complaining about new domes? Many, many more. It would be easier to totaly change the war system rather than to simply change the dome-mechanism.
Now, about calling coward who domes, let me explain why I disagree, even if I'm not a domer and I hate playing vs. domers.
First I'm not english motherlanguage, so maybe it could be a misinterpretation, but in my motherlanguage calling someone coward is one of the worst ways to insult him.
Second, as told before, it's a legit strategy. Noisy, but legit. Is it more important winning wars and rewards or doing chests? IMO winning wars. If a club wins with the dome, you can call him coward all day long, but he won simcash, war simoleons, keys, AND chests. And ranking points. So, at the end, cowards or not cowards, they just did better.
Assumed that EA won't change that, wouldn't be better to just find a way to avoid it?
Since war has been introduced (last october) my club has been starting a war every 3 days. So, let's say 50 weeks since the beginning, let's say 2 wars weekly, it results we fought at least 100 wars.
We met strong clubs, weak ones, cheater ones, we won, we lost, and now we're in arena 4, but no more than 5-6 wars had the dome-strategy problem, most of all in the first period, when we was learning how to fight. In the last 6 months it happened just one time.
So, I can be the fool on the hill, in a club of idiots, as I can't pilot a Space Shuttle. So I'm not trying to teach anything to anyone. I just want to share what has been my experience and why IMO my club so rarely had this problem.
So simple that seems stupid: just don't let your opposite club gain an advantage bigger enough to let your club dome them all. Easier to say than to do, but it's simple math. Even when loosing, you and your teammates gotta keep attacking to avoid that "ending" gap. It needs a club active, always ready to keep that gap closed. Not always easy, but not impossible.
Best regards.

Hi Meesfeet,
The conversation was beginning to get a little too personal and It was time to step in with a little attempt at humor. It is very unlikely you’ll hear me call anyone an idiot...that term is often used by folks that have lost a debate and have nowhere to turn...I sort of consider it a badge of honor. You will hear me use the terms ignorant and stupid...which probably translates differently from English and certainly from Southern dialect. Folks from not around here sometimes mistakenly assume they mean the same thing...but that’s not correct. Ignorant simply is you don’t know no better but there’s still hope for you - stupid is when you know better and do it anyway. Most everyone knows that us Southern boys (also affectionately known as rednecks) last words are often “Hey watch this”...what they probably don’t know it’s preceded by “Bubba, hold my beer for me..” Meaning of words especially in English carry an awful lot of different meanings and sometimes it can get confusing and easily misunderstood.
As an example the term “strategy” in this case means a feeble attempt to cover a mistake and a weak justification of why one chooses to hide.
By the way, we have never lost to a bubble team, have won 90% of our contests and have never hid...just isn’t in our DNA and yes we’re playing level 4 as well. Take Care.
- 7 years agoThanks PinnacleValley, understand and agreeing.
Just another little focus on another possible point of view (not shared by me, but when I analize something I use to search for every possible point of view, ad a devil's attorney): SimCity isn't born as a war game. I'm 45 years old, I've played almost every version of SC, since the 2D first release, and SCB is the only one with wars, even if SCB top weren't born as a war game.
So, many players doesn't play it as a war game, using wars only to complete COM missions. IMO, leaving war missions from COM would almost resolve the turtle clubs problem.

Hi meesfeet,
Thanks, just to clarify I still don’t agree with the “strategy” to hide to win...
Roughly 20 years ago my 6 year old son started playing SimCity with his 8 year old buddy and trying to be a good Dad I would sit down with him after supper and he would “teach me the game” and I found that he was learning about economics, resource planning, decision making, budgeting, etc. and was having fun (of course we didn’t let him sit behind the computer all day) and I guess that was part of the appeal. He probably played until he was about 9 when he found other games were more fun... What I was most impressed with in the Maxis game it was developed to be very simple or very complex contingent to how you approached it.
I started playing SCBI when It was released it and found it to be a some what watered down version (but completely understandable) and was here when COM was introduced, the start of the mayor’s clubs and the war games which caused an uproar and quite honestly a drastic increase in cheating and shortcuts. I agree with you and even stated in the forum it was highly unfair to include war game assignments in COM. I do appreciate your optimism that this simple change would address the turtle strategy and for some it will (Hi Bethann 🙂 ) but for too many more It doesn’t matter.
Take care.
- 7 years agoHi PinnacleValley
I already knew you don't agree with that strategy, as I watch this forum at least once daily, even if I'm not writing a lot.
What I'd like to clarify is that I'm not for that strategy too. At least not when abused, staying domed for hours and hours. With my club, sometimes we decided to stay bubbled 2-3 hours near the end and then get out together for a mass-attack, but I think that's not enough to call us a turtle club.
That said, I just don't share insulting people for using a legit strategy I don't like. IMO cheaters are a problem way more worst than turtles.
Take care! - EA_Darko7 years ago
