Team Treasure Chest issue

I have an issue with SimCity buildit. When I open the game a message pops up regarding the team treasure chest. But whenever I try the open the chest I receive a message about not having an internet connection. I am not able to play the game as I only have to option to open the chest. Have tried both closing the game and restarting my phone.

I would be grateful for any advice?
