Population limit to unlock 5th area

How can I reach 10 million population to unlock my 5th area?, there’s no way to get 10 million population with the 4 areas together I guess that’s a game bug or the designers just picked 10 million p...

I'm closer than I was this time last year and all the years before that, it looks impossible but it is doable.

Build, minimise the junk you don't need, like huge Mayor's Pass buildings,

Hotspots, Epic buildings and Omega buildings help but above all, patience I guess

What I am starting to get annoyed at is a couple of City Achievements like "Farmer" , the Farmer's Market is a real bottleneck. I decided to go for "Baker" instead - make 5000 donuts basically. That was tough going but I done it but as a result of making flour bags constantly, vegetables production fell by the wayside 😀

On the plus side I made a small fortune selling donuts!

"Lumberjack" and "Worker' are both proving to be difficult too but I'll get there!

I'm also working on "Couch Potato" another tough one. As for "Tailor" bfft I'm close to giving up on that one lol

The game is designed to be a slow moving, frustrating annoyance - unless you do what EA want you to do, which is to treat it like a second unpaid job, play as many of the 24 hours in a day as physically possible AND throw money at them to buy even more junk that you don't really need.

It is possible, the trick is to have a solid number of residences built in your regions, and getting as close to having a 100% population boost coverage from each building specailty type. Helioport (transportation), Snake Eye Casino (Gambling), University (Education), Ferris Wheel (Entertainment), and the Giralada (Landmark) were my favorite buildings to use for boosting population and those buildings are cost effective as most of them are low cost in terms of using gold keys / platinum keys.

Landscaping around and in between the buildings with parks (the small ones preferably to save space) also help boost population.

In terms of what kinds of residential buildings to build, I recommend the regional residential buildings, Tokyo residences, regular residential skyscrapers that become epic buildings, and Omega residences are the best building in my opinion as these building types hold more population than the rest, and match that with specialty buildings, landscaping, and parks, and you can hit 10,000,000.

You just have to really work for it.
