Nothing to do with Happiness as its always around 95%. Problem seems to be linked to leaving my city via Global HQ in particular, the fact that I sometimes have 5 buildings with upgrade potential, so I go to Global HQ to buy items and when I return to my city the buildings to upgrade are completely different buildings with different requirements (4 wood, etc). Its at this point I noticed that my population / money has dropped significantly.

What is the happiness of your city? If it is too low, population will start to move out.
