The leader in my league has 500,000 and is at level45 how is this possible not just the 500,000 pts but level45 im at 38 and can't get any further as capped,what's going on

I reached level 42 before cap kicked in,collected the booster which not only doubles mayor's pass but also the cap,which allows u to get to 45. I can say also that it is doubling com points,I'm currently at 507k on the leader board but at 338k in the club challenge
Sorry level 40 not 42.
