Using Stored Utility Service Buildings in Design

I still have a few stored utility buildings (power, water, etc) from the Services update. I've been using them in Design, assuming they would be returned to me.

But have I been assuming wrong? I used a stored fusion plant, and it's gone now!

  • Just because you have it in your storage does not mean you can use it in DC and have it returned. Only buildings that you can store normally will be returned.

As a general rule - if you can buy it in the main menu, it's not storable. So Fusion Power, Salt Water Plant, any of the regular Fire/ Police / Health etc are not storable and should not be used in DC.

  • I have used some services before and they would return before this whole update, now they disappeared. I lost 3 of my service buildings, a few just purchased with the Superservice 3.0 season.  I am scared to continue the design challenges now, 1 time my (not that) fat finger accidentally dragged the wrong service and *poof* gone, bye bye lvl 10 service 😭

Same, just discovered this and thought maybe if I placed them in my Capitol City or a region that they would be more permanent, but no, I found out that after placing they can't be stored. 2.0 is terrible.

The majority of service buildings have never been storable. This is nothing new.

I had one in every service category, all from previous super service events, and now they are no longer storable. It is not visible that you can or can't store them until you put them in your city / design but that is too late.

And lately no new buildings in the design reward track, so for longtime players it seems kind of pointless to participate.
