SCBI Devs, Hear Me Out: We NEED Two More Regions to Balance the Map! 🏔️🌊

Hey Mayors! 👋

I love the Regions feature, but if you look closely at the specialization support, the current 5-region line-up is totally unbalanced. We only have one Mountain region (Frosty Fjords!) and two regions that are basically "flat with no unique specialization."

I did the math, and to make the game perfectly balanced and give us two brand-new, amazing build challenges, we need to add two new regions!

My proposed goal is a 2-2-2-1 split across the map specializations: 2 Mountain, 2 Beach, 2 Flat/Tiered, and 1 Hybrid.

The Current Problem (5 Regions):

The current map specializations look like this:

 * Mountain Support: 1 (Frosty Fjords)

 * Beach Support: 2 (Sunny Isles, Green Valley)

 * No Unique Support: 2 (Cactus Canyon, Limestone Cliffs)

This single-Mountain region is a huge imbalance!

The Solution: Two New Regions (7 Regions Total!)

We introduce two regions that fill the biggest gaps and bring a new level of difficulty:

1. 🌋 Volcanic Plateau (Fills the Mountain Gap!)

 * Theme: Tropical/Jungle Volcanic. Think Hawaii or a Southeast Asian island, complete with a massive, dormant volcano on one side.

 * Why we need it: We desperately need a second Mountain Specialization region. This one would introduce a tropical aesthetic and completely new building sets.

 * Layout Challenge: Fragmented and difficult. Building space is limited by thick jungle ravines and unbuild able black lava flows. It forces unique, winding road layouts, unlike the straightforward fjords.

 * Unique Product: Obsidian (for high-end manufacturing) and Tropical Fruit.

2. 🛶 Bayou Delta (The Ultimate Hybrid Challenge!)

 * Theme: Swampy Delta/Bayou. Low-lying, misty, and crisscrossed with countless unfillable rivers and marshes. Elevated boardwalks and homes on stilts!

 * Why we need it: This acts as the Hybrid (1) region. It introduces a unique Waterway Specialization for structures that float or sit on the water, different from the open coastline of a beach.

 * Layout Challenge: Narrow and Linear. Cities must be built on small strips of land between the water, requiring dozens of tiny bridges and forcing creative, non-grid development.

 * Unique Service: We get a new service demand: Pest Control (imagine dealing with alligators and mosquitoes!).

The Final Balanced Map (7 Regions):

With the additions of Volcanic Plateau and Bayou Delta, the map specializations become:

 * Mountain Support: 2 (Frosty Fjords, Volcanic Plateau) - PERFECTLY BALANCED

 * Beach Support: 2 (Sunny Isles, Green Valley) - PERFECTLY BALANCED

 * No Unique Support: 2 (Cactus Canyon, Limestone Cliffs) - PERFECTLY BALANCED

 * Hybrid Support: 1 (Bayou Delta) - NEW, UNIQUE CHALLENGE

What do you all think? Wouldn't a Volcanic Plateau or a Bayou Delta city be absolutely epic? Let's get the attention of the SCBI team!

  • Would be great, but don’t think the AI bot will listen to these suggestions.

Too busy making problems for us as it is

  • The only issue I see is that they don’t introduce many mountain items. There are lots of various things for beach but not much for mountains. I have my mountains filled but many are repeated items.

  • EA is too busy with their obsession with ruining everyone's fun with the game.

  • Personally I was totally fed up having to expand beach and mountain areas which was the main reason I left Frosty Fjords to be the region I unlocked last. Although a wee bit of beach area in there would have been good for the Serpent longship thing because it would have looked really good setting sail around the fjords. 🤔
