Initially, when I saw the services 2.0 hints in the data mine videos that go up on YouTube whenever an app update is released, I was actually excited. I thought the new approach would free up space in our cities, allowing more freedom for creativity.
But I was dead wrong. The "best value" for service buildings (particularly Police / Fire / Health) are the largest of these types and are incredibly ugly and take up valuable space. I purposefully designed my city with the intent of hiding service buildings as much as possible because they are an incredible eyesore. My two lower level cities are pretty much just disgustingly ugly things and I have no motivation to redesign them. I'm dreading my main city getting services 2.0, because I'll have to completely rework my regions because the types of fire / police / health / regional service buildings I use are small. I've already begun demolishing residences to free up space to plop the gift fire / police / health when services 2.0 hit my main city. This has been completely demoralizing to me wanting to play the game, and there is not going to be any coming back from this. A month ago, my club consistently hit top chest in the game every week in the club challenge. Now we are lucky to crack 600,000 points - nobody is wanting to deal with the services 2.0 rollout. I have a life outside of the game, and the services 2.0 just causes players to play less.
I'm not worried so much about the capital in my main city as I've already thinned out residences and maximized coverage from Maxis Manor / HQ, so the only headache I'll have to deal with is Omega and ensuring adequate capacity from Electric / Water / Sewer / Trash. However, I shouldn't even have needed to do any of this. The services 2.0 upgrade was not necessary. If TrackTwenty wanted to change how the game was played, then TrackTwenty should have released the game as SimCity BuildIt 2.0 and allowed players the option to convert to BuildIt 2.0, or let people stick with what made the comfortable.
Well done EA. Now, you should just close the game. The incompetence behind this entire update just astounds me. Using AI tools has obviously drained decision makers of any rationale thought processes.
