Serious Concerns About the 2.0 Update, Monetization, and Player Trust

Hello,

I am a long-time SimCity BuildIt player, and I feel obligated to express serious concerns regarding the 2.0 update.

Although I have not yet received this update, the growing volume of negative feedback from players is deeply troubling. Many reports indicate that years of accumulated progress, resources, and effort are being diminished or rendered meaningless. Players who have invested countless hours into this game now feel that their dedication is being disregarded.

This situation unfortunately aligns with a broader pattern seen across EA titles, including PC games from other departments. Aggressive monetization strategies, updates that prioritize revenue over enjoyment, and a declining respect for player time have become increasingly noticeable. This creates the impression that long-term player loyalty is treated as a resource to be exploited rather than valued.

It is also important to note that SimCity BuildIt is not without alternatives. EA is not operating in a vacuum. There are other city-building games on the market that offer enjoyable experiences with fairer systems and significantly lower financial pressure on players. If long-time users feel that their effort and progress are no longer respected, many will inevitably look elsewhere.

For many of us, this game represents years of careful planning, patience, and commitment — not a short-term distraction. A single update should never place that investment at risk or undermine the trust built over such a long period.

I strongly urge the development and management teams to reconsider the direction of the 2.0 update, to protect existing player progress, and to address the growing dissatisfaction within the community. Continuing down this path risks permanently damaging player trust and driving loyal users away.

This message is written out of concern, not hostility. However, the frustration and disappointment among long-term players should be taken very seriously.

Sincerely,

I agree with the above opinion. I think all gamers should visit the Google Play Store or Apple Store to leave feedback on whether they like the "new SimCityBuildit" gameplay.

    Best regards.

  • Very well stated. I'm a longtime player and I'm considering leaving to find entertainment where my time and money spent is appreciated.
