Server Connection Fails with Error Code 1200.0.999

Hi, my phone is Xiaomi Redmi 3S.

2 days ago I have Error Code: 1200.0.999, but then I tried to fix it on the phone settings and worked. but a day later the error happens again, and now it is not the connection settings that are wrong. it seems to be the app itself or the server that is not working well.

My internet connection is just fine. working well for other apps on my phone. even downloading files are just fine.

I did reboots, reconnects, clear cache, uninstall, and reinstall. nothing worked. it is completely cut off from the server.

For my first issue with the connection settings, I did send a request to EA Support, but for this new issue, and after I read the postings in this thread, I think there is something is going on the EA Server, I don't know, is there a real issue with the server? let me know. I don't want to send a request again because this is weird. something is happening.

for now, I will just keep trying to connect with the current installation there is. and I hope EA will soon fix this problem.

  • [UNCOVERED & RESOLVED] Error Code: 1200.0.999

    Root Cause:

Internal and/or External Storage Space Is Not Enough

    Precondition:

Internet Connection (WiFi or Mobile Data) is working fine (no busy network or high ping)

    Impacts:

    • will be only able to play in Offline Mode.
    • unable to connect to any registered accounts (Google Play, Facebook, etc. (error code 1200.0.999 will appear and make you have to quit the game)) that makes us think that this is an 'internet connection issue' which is not.
    • unable to see Global Trade Depot (in-game).
    • unable to see and follow the Contest of Mayor (in-game).
    • unable to see updated Club's chat (in-game).
    • unable to save the game to the server (because not connected to the server).

    Troubleshoot:
Make storage space available at least 10% (1.6GB of 16GB, 3.2GB of 32GB, 6.4GB of 64GB) of your phone internal and/or external storage capacity.

Make sure that the SCBI app and Google Play Games app are allowed to use both Mobile Data and WiFi internet connection. Go to SETTINGS > Applications (other phones might be named 'Installed Apps') > SCBI > Restrict Data Usage (other phones might be named with different names) > TURN ON or CHECK both WiFi and Mobile Data.

    - Do Clear Cache of the SCBI app and to overall apps on your phone (by using the clear apps you have on your phone)

    - Restart/Reboot your phone.

After you try steps above I believe uninstall and reinstall the SCBI app is NOT required.

IF the error still persists/happens then you might need to uninstall and reinstall the SCBI app.

Advice (from Official EA Support Team):

please note that EA Support has given me a list of advice and troubleshoots related to the error message above (1200.0.999) and the number 1 below is the most reasonable to be concerned about (read the bold words).

    1. If you are running any 'optimization' type apps on your device -- those that claim to save battery or 'speed up' your device by clearing temporary caches and/or killing unnecessary background apps -- please ensure you exclude SimCity BuildIt from their lists. The game is designed to store temporary data on your device specifically to ensure the smooth running of the game, and any abrupt closures from external apps can result in a minor loss of progress in your city or other strange behaviors.

this is why SCBI ask you to free up space at least 10% of your phone's storage capacity because SCBI Server need to store temporary data on your storage.

    2. This one is my own advice: Do Not Give Permission To SCBI App To Phone Storage. Go to Settings > Applications (other phones might use different name such as 'Installed Apps') > SCBI > App Permissions (or Permissions) > TURN OFF the Storage. (see attachment: SCBI App Permissions - Storage.png)

I think that is all for the issue Error Code: 1200.0.999

I hope that this post is helpful to those who need it.

    Error Code: 1200.0.999

(Could not retrieve data from the server for this Google Play Account. Please try again. Error Code: 1200.0.999 - Player ID: 1xxxxxxxxx)

    Impacts:
    1. Unable to connect to Google Play Account (error code 1200.0.999 will appear and make you have to quit the game)
    2. Unable to see Global Trade Depot (in-game)
    3. Unable to see Contest of Mayor (League/CoM in-game)
    4. Unable to see Club's chat (in-game)
    5. Unable to save the game to the Google Play Account

So here is the troubleshoot on Android (should be working in iOS too)

    Way 1
On your phone SETTINGS; go to "Data Usage", find Google Play Games and SimCity BuildIt,
then TURN ON the "Mobile Data" and "WiFi" for those apps (by sliding or check).

    Way 2
On your phone SETTINGS; go to "Installed Apps", find Google Play Games and SimCity BuildIt,
then click "Restrict Data Usage",  and then TURN ON the Mobile Data and WiFi for those apps (by sliding or check).

    NOTES:
    1. Each brand of phones will vary in naming the "menus" within the SETTINGS, in other words for solving this kind of problem is that You Just Have To Find Those Two Apps And Allow Them To Use Internet Connection via Mobile Data and WiFi (should TURN ON BOTH OF THEM, cannot be only one that is On).
    2. NO UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL (SIMCITY BUILDIT) IS REQUIRED.
  • Hi @IHMHI - I moved your post to its own thread, since your phone model & issue seems to be a little different from the one in which you posted. I also changed the title to better reflect your particular issue.

I want to be sure that I understand what's happening for you. The first time you experienced the issue, you were able to change some phone connection settings that enabled SimCity BuildIt to connect to the server. Could you explain what setting you changed? It could be very helpful for others that have the same issue.

EA servers have experienced some outages in the past, but I don't think this is the problem for you. Usually, if the SCBI servers go down there will be a lot of posts all around the same time with people unable to connect. We haven't had that recently (yay!) and I can't find any information on recent outages, so it could have been a momentary thing in your region but it's more probably something else.

I'm sure you've already checked, but just in case, make sure the settings didn't change. If you were using wifi data, try using cellular data or the opposite (if you're using cellular data, try wifi). Since you've already tried the "usual" - reboot, clear cache, uninstall/reinstall - and your other apps work, it's probably not the connection again as you've said. If you're using cellular data, make sure you didn't run out of data for your billing period.

If you're saving your SCBI game data to an SD card, try moving it to internal storage. Check available storage to be sure you are not running out of space.

Please reply back and let us know if any of these suggestions helped. 🤞 There are some more things we can try.

    Hello there BlackJackWidow.
thank you so much for your support in sorting my post to its own thread.

I will try to answer some of your questions.

    1. "Could you explain what setting you changed? It could be very helpful for others that have the same issue."
    Answer:

see attachments Data Usage view (sample).png & Installed Apps and Restrict Data Usage view (sample).png

    2. "I'm sure you've already checked, but just in case, make sure the settings didn't change. If you were using wifi data, try using cellular data or the opposite (if you're using cellular data, try wifi). Since you've already tried the "usual" - reboot, clear cache, uninstall/reinstall - and your other apps work, it's probably not the connection again as you've said. Answer:

    - I did not change the connection settings on my phone since I have had successfully troubleshoot the first issue (and the next day the same issue appeared again and I was unable to fix it).
    - My billing data was still enough (1.5 Gb) if only to Googling/browsing and playing SCBI for a month.

    3. "Check available storage to be sure you are not running out of space".
    Answer:

May I know how much exactly space storage to be available to be able to play SCBI online?

I think I had only 1.2 GB available out of 16 GB when the new-same issue appeared. but now I have 3 GB available (with no SCBI installed and unused data have been deleted).

Now I do not play SCBI for a while since I could not connect to the server with my Google Play Account, and please don't tell me to try to use Facebook because I don't really into online social-media kind of things.

Alright let me check if with this 3 GB available storage I could manage to connect to the server or not. will reply soon here if I succeed.

I marked your "Not enough storage space" post as the solution to highlight it. In the future, you can mark (and un-mark) solutions to threads you've started by using the menu on the post. Click on the 3 dots on the upper right-hand corner of the post and choose "Mark as Solution". You can edit your own posts from that menu, too, if you'd like.
