Help! My mayor contest has frozen!! Last challenge before going up a league, and i was in the lead too :-( Have reloaded the game, still frozen. Any suggestions?

Mine stopped accruing my assignment progress, set my time remaining to 0sec and froze. I can't click OK or continue the contest. Stuck like the rest of you.
There is a maximum number of assignments each week, it freezes when there are no active ones until the contest is over.
