To illustrate, see the attached photo. The tablet on the left is a Samsung Tab Pro 10.1, on the right is the newer Samsung Tab S2. Note that the left tablet has reasonably sized icons and messages. The tablet on the right has grotesquely, oversized icons and messages that take up up way too much screen space, obscuring the city.
Note that on the newer tablet, I like that the city is rendered in much greater detail, and that I can zoom in and out a bit further than on the older tablet. With more appropriately sized icons, the game would be much more playable.

Your new Tablet has such a high display resolution, that there are problems with icons. To force your tablet to use a other resolution (a lower one) download this app from the play store.
The app will automatically download a new game system service from the samsung app store.
Now lauch the app und choose middle or low resolution for sim city. You can adjust thr resolution for every installed game. ENJOY 😉

Oh sorry, actually you have to turn the resolution higher with the app, but it still works on my Tab S2 as you can see on the screenshot!
I didn't have to do anything, but I now see a much improved layout on my Tab2. I'm happy now!
But thanks for the tip! When I get a the chance, I'll install that app.
Thanks! HansOops! Now it's back to its old, big icon behavior. Looks like I do need that configuration app after all.

A few weeks ago a player shared an answer from the tech support team that might explain why this is happening:
The first time the game is opened on every device and again after every update, an in-game optimisation check list is run. This takes into consideration various things about your device, such as the screen resolution, the processing power, memory etc. The testing results in an optimisation score. The game is then optimised for each device depending on its score to ensure you get the best performance possible. This can explain why you might see a slightly more polished version of the game on a smaller device rather than a larger one, the zoom in and out capacity might feel different, you might have different types of lights or the icons might seem different sizes over two devices.
Why might you see differences over two identical devices? When the optimisation check-list is run it can also be affected by how heavy the current CPU load is on that specific device. If one device has very few apps running and plenty of storage, it may perform better in the test than an identical device with many apps running in the background, a fuller storage or any other types of processes running that might lower its optimisation score.
If you've noticed a recent change only after updating your game, the optimisation check list has been re-run. Your graphics or zoom function can be modified to give you better performance and reduce the chance of lag or crashing (as the less heavy detail shown on the screen, the less strain there will be on your device's processor and battery).

Just make sure to close all other apps before installing SCBI and to clear some storage space if possible. Hope that information helps.
