I don't understand the population boost numbers I'm getting. I purchased the gambling HQ because it said I'd get a boost of 9000, but I didn't even get 2000 from it. Then I got a casino that was going to boost 10000 and I got maybe 6000 from it. I know there is a maximum boost, but I haven't reached that. Do these numbers just lie or is there some other logic I'm missing?
I think the maximum boost is 100% total (but I'm not sure about that), combining all of the specializations in that area. So take a look at what else is nearby, because it really adds up fast. For example, I have a Luxurious Casino next to a University. Everything covered by both of those is already at 100% because they're 50% each. When I added an Empire State Building, even though the preview said I would get 36,000 before I placed it, the actual number was closer to 10,000 because of its proximity to the other two.
I'm not sure what other factors could affect it.
I had an expo center at 50%, a park at 20%, and the gambling HQ is 20%. That's 90%. Another weird thing, I tried moving it somewhere else that said it had a higher boost and my population went down. Very weird.
