I literally watching my trains run into each other head on all the time. I found it so amusing I placed my Day of the Dead graveyard park right next to the tracks in one of my regions, just felt appropriate lol
I was able to make spur tracks near each station in my Capital City and now the trains politely allow each other to pass without colliding. It's kinda fun to watch the trains as one heads 'east' on one track while the other heads 'west' on the parallel track. . Of course, occasionally they still do collide, but not as often.
