I'd like to add one more suggestion. Part 1 was originally intended to be in my list above, but I left it out somehow, and then the change was made to lower sales lots to 5 items at a time, which was ironic. So I modified my suggestion, adding a second part, and here it is:
Part 1
The maximum quantity of an item that a player can put up for sale in the Trade Depot equals the level of the city. Thus, a level 6 city could sell lots of 6 items, level 10 could sell 10, and so on.
Part 2
A new filter is added to the GTHQ so that only those lots for sale that are equal to or less than the player's city level will be shown in the trade window.
This change would have several effects.
- Players would gain more value from buying trade depot slots, whereas the recent reduction immediately halved the value of what had already been bought.
- Higher level cities would be able to sell items more efficiently, and would also be able to buy them more efficiently.
- Higher level cities would be able to produce larger lots than lower level cities would be able to view. This would favor larger cities in terms of shopping power. Since larger cities have an exponentially more difficult time finding and purchasing items, this would help to balance out the huge disparity.
- [Edit] This would also help to incentivize leveling up, since currently the incentive is to remain at low levels while you upgrade everything.
If it is felt that sales lots would be too large with this suggested change, then even a factor of city level / 2 for lot sizes would be better than the current state of affairs.
I know a lot of people are unhappy with the new settings, so maybe this is an alternative that would better serve the player base.
