Agreed challenge is one thing but having to spend every waking hour checking up on items is not possible for people who actually have a life outside the game. Most of us are adults to start with that have to worry about things like jobs, kids, sleep...the important stuff you know? Thanks to the OP for the math I figured it was hard but wow...Ya know I wouldn't mind stacking tokens from one day to the next to achieve Gold tier over time.

So I wasn't clear on the tokens, so I added 36 to my first epic project, and got bronze. So I wasted a lot of resources.
On my second building, SimCity said I needed 10 for bronze. Just to see how it works, I put in 11. As far as I can tell, the building did not change and start producing bronze tokens.
What am I missing?

Once you finish the number of points you plan on accruing for that building, you still have to wait for the 24 hours to expire. Once the 24 hours is up, you need to tap the button to convert the building. Then you'll start getting the floating gears over the building one every 24 hours. Those gears are used to make a token, once you have enough of them.

10-80-160 are the only # of tokens needed for each tier, anything in between does not help.
