@DestroyISIS Did you move up last week? I didn't. I fell just outside the range. Last week, only the top 10 moved up in my game. This week it's the top 20. I'm wondering if the differences are which league you're currently in. I also think they may have increased how many people move up to start getting the higher leagues populated faster since it's only the 2nd week and everyone is either Suburban League or Neighborhood League. They may reduce it in the future to what it was previously once there's competition in all leagues.
I would think as you go up in leagues the rewards are better and more people would get them. After all, even the pro-bowler who comes in last gets paid. Although I would agree that if you haven't put forth an effort at all and end up with 0 that you shouldn't get rewards, but how do we know that isn't how the game does it? We can only see how the initial random order shows, but the rewards are structured on our screens in a fixed position. It's only the players that move their scores and positions, but the structure of the screen is fixed.
In my game that is, top 5 gets Grand Prize, 6-16 gets Big Prize, 17-31 gets Medium prize, 32-70 gets small prize. I have no issue with that structure whatsoever as really the only people getting good prizes are the top 31 people. The little chunk of change for the small prize is practically nothing. 3000 coins can be easily made in a short time in the game elsewhere, so it's really no big deal. If you moved up and the structure is different or better prizes, that is the goal of moving up. To get better prizes and more people would or should get better prizes the higher they go up in the league structure. Yes there are a bunch of 0 point people who the game shows as earning the small prize, but is that what the game will really pay out to those people or will it say that they did not participate so they get no prize? I would think it would not give a prize to anyone with 0 points, but the positions on everyone's screen is fixed in whatever random order people appeared. The only way to know for sure is for you to get 0 one week when it shows you're making money and see if you can collect it. It's not worth the attempt or the complaint to me.
Unfortunately I was 12th on my ladder last week so I'm still in the basement. This week I'm rotating between 1st & 2nd with someone twice my level ahead of me, and the player behind me is also twice my level. After the first day of this round there are only 24 active participants in my ladder, I'm sure that will change, hopefully. It takes a lot of pre-planning to get near the top and a lot of time is required online to be anywhere near the top, that might be a problem since most players work or go to school. I'm retired so I've got nothing but time! Based on current ladder standing I should be able to move up this week, I just don't want those who make little to no effort to reap any kind of reward, including advancement. The concept is FANTASTIC, a deep thinker came up with this, I applaud his/her efforts. It's literally a game within a game. And I know that over time the minor issues will be worked out.

That's where I ended up too. Although, I'm going to end way higher than I did last week. I'm currently in 2nd with my current active assignment and one more to go and I'm already 1000 above where I ended last week.
What I've been doing is preparing for assignments before starting them. In this case, I happened to get Make Electronic components, Make Drills and Make Couches, which all paid off to the tune of 1500-2500, so I started some of each. Since they're all components of each other, it worked out well. I didn't start the assignments until I already some available. Items can be ready to collect when you start an assignment. Just don't collect them until you start the assignment and it will count, so it's not like you have to start completely from scratch. You can prepare yourself well in advance. Cheetah tokens help too. 🙂 I had to be very careful not to collect something by accident, which seems to happen to me all the time just navigating around the city.
With what I currently have planned, I should end around the 10,000 mark instead of the 6000 mark I was last week.
My only complaint about it would be this......
You only get 10 assignments that you're able to do. If you accidentally start an assignment that is impossible, such as this week was upgrade 3 paris zones and I don't have any paris zones that are not already maxed and don't want more. I started the assignment by accident, canceled the assignment, I went from 10 assignments to 9. If you don't make any progress towards that assignment, they should just stop the assignment and put it back into the assignment queue. Not create a new assignment and take away one of your assignments. I did that once last week and once this week or I'd end higher than I'm going to now.
It's nothing that can't be worked around or being very diligent with which ones you start, but I'm not liking how they did that part of it. There should possibly be some way of passing on an assignment that is not possible of completing. I don't want more Paris, London or Tokyo zones since they can't be upgraded for speed-up tokens. I already have the 10 of each required for certain Landmarks.

I LOVE this game! I play it WAY too much. I love almost everything about it. . However, this whole contest of Mayors gives players who want to blow their own real money on simcash an unfair advantage over people who really can't afford to waste hard earned money. Much to my chagrin, I have already given into the pressures of this and wasted about $5 to $15 of my own real money just to keep up with the other players who are stupidly spending at will or hacking the game for simcash. How stupid am I to get sucked into that logic of using my own damn money to play this free game?! I just can't afford to do that anymore because it's insane to waste your money on this. So I really have no incentive to compete with players who can just buy their way to wining these contest. I believe that's how the game designers wanted it. I wish they could be make the contest fair to those who want to play honestly and fairly without buying their way to victory for a game that gives them no real life achievement. This is same situation with epic projects as well. Players can just buy their goods with simcash to get easy epic points. It took me an entire dame day to get to 160 points just to earn a fraction of Cheeta token. it was painful and wasteful process. Sorry dude, that is not freaking worth it! But, never the less, this game let's you do what ever the hell you want with your own city so I really can't complain too much. I'm really just open for any tips to overcoming these disadvantages.
