How can i increase production out of the factories? I haven't had any output of materials in several days. Also, what does the stream of n"ZZZ's" mean coming out of my factories? Do I need to do anything to make the factories produce materials. I just started this game and am getting to know how it works.

To increase production:
1 - upgrade your commercial buildings. On the left hand side, tap on the factory icon. You'll notice a small (i) above each factory. Tap on that to pay simoleons to upgrade that building.
2 - buy extra slots in each commercial building using the dollars you have. You can earn extra dollars by completing achievements.
3 - as you level up, you'll gain more factories. You can also upgrade from a basic 3 slot factory to 5 slot factories using simoleons.
Zzzzzzz only means you are not producing anything at the moment.
