I've lots of friends via Facebook, but I have no idea what the benefit is (other than there being an achievement for having them).
Unlike HayDay where going to a friend's farm would enable you to find goodies, water their plants, as well as buy from their stalls, it seems in this game you only get the purchasing option (and even this is not guaranteed with the apparent selling bug).
What am I missing?

Hopefully they will add an in game chat or a way to leave messages with a neighbor. That way you could request items you need from your neighbors and have them put them in their marketplace for you.
Personally I think having an in game chat function with your neighbors would be a big help to the game, and give people a reason to actually have neighbors in the first place...
Hopefully the developers see this and decide to make it more social. Maybe add something that you can join together in like U.N. or something. The best games that are builder ones have some type of chat that keeps people involved (clan chat for example) or let you add friends by the city's name (so IOS people can be friends/help out Android.) Just a thought.
