Why Are City Names Being Changed?

I received a notification  that my city named "Enchanted Grotto" was being changed because one or more words in the city name could be offensive.  I was not given any choice in the matter, the name was just changed.  What?  Which word is offensive and to whom?  Neither word has ANY negative connotation or meaning that I could find in a dictionary.    Too bad.  Because of EA's arbitrary decision to change the name of my city (and thereby cater to the oversensitive crowd), I am shutting down my city and will no longer patronize any EA product.   We logical and sensible people can express displeasure over the way a company operates, too.

    Hey there, Mayors.

    There was an issue yesterday where some perfectly fine names were changed by the system. 😳 This error was fixed quickly before others could be affected, however some names had already been changed.

    If you were affected by this, you're welcome to return the name to what you had before without worry of any negative effect to your game or account.

    I changed the name back to Enchanted Grotto, however, I see that is not the name that is visible to others.  I take offense to this change being done without allowing me to have a part in the process.  If it was an error, EA's procedure prevents it from being corrected.

    As Rocco shared file a ticket through the in game help section for it to be changed in the system. Include the proper definition for grotto (cave / cavern) as someone less than knowledgeable probably reported you for an offensive name and the EA contractors probably went with the complaint as they didn’t know what it meant or didn’t take time to review...either way it’s not acceptable. Good luck.
