Withdrawal option for Contest of Mayors

Ugh.  I'm so furious right now.  After being stuck in the same league for two weeks due to some questionable scores (even doing every single one of my highest scoring tasks only landed me around 20th one week), I've been demoted simply because I was away on business and unable to play for two solid days while I was traveling/in transit.

I've put a lot of time and money into the Contest of Mayors (and the game in general, I have over 1/2 of the available Epic Building designs, all the special holiday/event items, and at least one of every item purchasable with gold keys), and it's ridiculous that I have to spend a week demoted because of a business trip.  EA doesn't give us the option to NOT play, so if you are busy or an emergency happens, you are screwed.  Furthermore, even if you know you will only miss a few assignments, the non top tier prizes just aren't worth the time it takes to get them.  If you have absolutely no chance at platinum keys or getting promoted, it makes more sense to save your items for next week or put your resources towards epic buildings.

There needs to be a withdrawal option so that you don't wind up being demoted during times you can't play - heck, I'd be fine with paying gold to opt out certain weeks that I know I cant dedicate enough time to it.  Until EA starts catching the people that are cheating and keeping everyone's maximum potential scores in the same range, it just isn't fun or worthwhile to play if you know you won't be able to have a fighting chance for the top.  This forced demotion business is ridiculous and almost enough to make me want to stop playing.

I don't think there is such a thing as demotion. Even when I came #61 in City league, I remained in City League the following week.

It seems that eventually we could all be in Megalopolis League, unless there's demotion in that league.

Metropolis League doesn't mention anything about demotion either. I was #40 this week, and still in Metropolis for the 2nd time.

Oh, there is.  Read the FAQ.  Since I couldn't play, I came in 86th in the city league with a score of about 28,000 points.  When I logged in after the competition ended, I received a notice that I would now be competing in the Town League because I was demoted.

They've always said the bottom 20 get demoted. EA repeated it as recently as yesterday on their Simcity Buildit Facebook page.
