    Thanks this worked.

Except. some of the instructions are confusing.

    • logout of origin
    • right click on origin and start as administrator
    • Log in
    • right click on simcity and select repair (allow to repair)
    • right click on the game again, click Game Properties
    • stop IGO (in game origin -on my version (windows 7) IGO is a box you check, or un-check -make sure to check the box.
    • now start the game - it works fine.

    1. Make sure your graphics driver is updated. (older Radeon drivers in particular had some graphics issues)
    2. Right-Click SimCity shortcut, choose Properties > Compatibility tab. Click the checkbox that says "Run this program in compatibility mode" and choose Windows 8 or 7.
    3. Through same tab, set Origin & SimCity shortcuts to "Run As Administrator"
    4. Try to run SimCity. If those settings didn't work, go back to the compatibility tab and run in reduced color mode (either or try both)
    5. If that doesn't work, go back and check the box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior" Choose Scaling performed by Application.

If none of those solutions work, please start a new thread (since this one is marked as solved already) and include your OS version, the error message and number, and graphic card details. I'll try to help if I can.

  • I know this is an older post, but if anyone is looking this took me hours to figure out until I performed a process monitor and stack trace ... My error was the Simcity could not render 1001 error. I found that it was looking a dll named ddrum32.dll . Once I found that and googled it, I found an obscure post of a driver that was conflicting with the duet display that is a third-party display app for iPads to be able to be used as another monitor (duetdisplay.com) . After I removed the duet app and rebooted, all my apps could now start and run! As of note, I had other app problems too, especially with Crysis not loading, and Epic Games Launcher failing.

Just a note, look for anything, duet or otherwise, that may intercept, hook, or otherwise affect your display (monitor or video card) as this could be a culprit.

Thanks for letting us know what worked for you. It can be very difficult to track down conflicting third party apps. Happy Building!
