Game won't load in Steam

Question

I have just purchased SimCity4 Deluxe through Steam. Every time I try to load the game on Steam, it fails - right after the EA Games intro, the screen just closes. One time (out of 10) I made it as far as the SimCity intro screen, but when I clicked on "start new city", the screen just closed.

I made sure to close every other program on my PC before running the game and there was still no change. I am not running any VPN or Anti-Virus software.

I am using a new Katana 15 B12V from MSI.

Can someone guide me?

I have now also purchased the same game on the EA App (so I paid twice). Same result.

I tried the following:

- Clearing cache

- Restarting computer

- Closing all programs

- Using task manager to close most background processes (except essential)

Nothing seems to work.
