Google Chromebook

What do I need to download to get origin to download and then get simcity downloaded?

  • Firstly.  SimCity needs a native Windows install or soon to be, Mac OSX.  Chrome OS is neither as it's linux based.  In fact its so heavily modified, it's barely "linux" in it's fullest sense.  I'm guessing you'll have little to no onboard storage (some chromebooks ship with more than others, depending on the manufacturer), and your spec will be too low to run the game even if you were able to get Wine running.

Personally I think it is a lost cause.

Google is dropping support for their original very basic Chrome OS in favor of a heavily Android-leaning OS version, I believe, but the main thing is that Simcity will have no further patches.  Maxis was closed down following the release of three unprofitable products in a row, and there is no plan to hand off this franchise to another developer, as was done with Maxis' popular "The Sims" series.

I wouldn't have bought a Chromebook if I would've known I can't do anything except research information for school and watch Netflix. I wasted my money.

The next series of Chrome computing devices will be using a more standard Android, for which quite a few games are going to be available, however, I anticipate it will cost more.
