NEED SOLUTION ON SIMCITY NEEDS ORIGIN ERROR MESSAGE!!!

I have SimCity 2013 and have been playing for years.  Just last month I now get an error message that "SimCity requires Origin to function.  The program must now close" and forces me to close the game.  Then it tells me to install Origin.  Why is this happening?  Can someone help with this problem?  I thought Origin went away
