Re: Error SMCY-24

@Todeenho - I am having trouble translating your message, but I do know that SMCY-24 is a network error. Something is happening to block SimCity. If it is not your firewall, it could be your anti-virus.

Always run installation files "As Administrator".

Firewall and Antivirus - Make sure SimCity.exe and Origin.exe are added to exception lists. If you have BitDefender installed, disable it.
Graphics drivers and Windows OS are patched and updated to newest versions
SimCity.exe and Origin.exe - Set them to run "as administrator"
Nahimic 2 from MSI - this is an audio management program that comes with MSI motherboards. Disable or uninstall it. Nahimic 2 is known to cause this issue.

Copy Update Files to SimCity folder. Go to Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity\SimCityUserData\Patches\UpdatedApp Select all files (Ctrl-A) and copy (Ctrl-C). Go to \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity and paste (Ctrl-V). Choose to overwrite any files that already exist.

I too am getting this error and have narrowed down a potential cause.

Back when this game was launched through the Origin launcher there was a folder located at Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity\SimCityUserData\

The "SimCityUserData" folder does not exist at Program Files\EA Games\SimCity\ - and if I create that folder there - then I get the error message:

ERROR CODE SMCY-24: Error while downloading SimCity. Please retry or see the customer support link for help.

If I then delete that folder - I can load the game as usual - however some of the mods that require that folder no longer work.

This has nothing to do with a firewall or anything like that - it's that this folder has either been relocated elsewhere - or something has been put in place to freak out if this folder exists.

I've attached a screenshot where I've created the folder - gotten the error, then deleted it - and reloaded successfully.

I made no other changes in between
