Re: Simcity "signal loss" "Black screen of death" thread

Well  here I am once again.  I haven't bothered to try playing for a few weeks because of this problem, but hey, I figured I'll give it a try once again with this new major 2.0 update and maybe my issue would be fixed finally!!!    Why am I not surprised it's STILL SCREWED UP!!!   Nothing has been fixed.  It still Crashes after a couple of minutes of gaming.   Everything is perfectly fine, and then I get the black screen and then my Monitor tells me it's lost it's video signal.  I can't do anything after that but Hold the power button down on the PC and kill the PC and then reboot once again.  Of course this isn't a very good or safe way to get back running once again, but I have no other choice in the matter.

My PC is running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with ZERO issues!!!  I did install a couple more fans, one a case fan and one a HDD fan just to keep things a little cooler, which my HDD now runs about 20 degrees cooler.  So I finally go and try SimCity after I don't now, 2-3 weeks now, give it another try and sure enough CRASH, Black screen of Death.  Killed my Video Signal.   This is complete B.S.!!!  I can tell you one thing, I won't EVER buy another Maxis or EA games ever again!!!  What a complete waste of my money for this trash.  Is there any acknowledgment of this problem and being worked on?  NO!

I can't believe this MAJOR problem still exists!!!  The game is completly unplayable.  Playing for a couple minutes and then a major CRASH like this is a huge problem, and yet NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT!!!   I can't keep having my PC crashing like this before I causes me some other major OS isseue because of it.  I installed the latest NVidea Driver.  The Windows 7 64-bit is up to date.  My PC runs more then Cool enough and yet must be everyone elses fault but them.

I ordered a new graphics card today, even though there isn't anything wrong with my current one and I shouldn't HAVE to get a new card because this is obviously a widespread issue.

BlueScreenView keeps telling me its atikmdag.sys causing the issue, even though my drivers are up to date, windows up to date, blah blah. So I'm swapping from ati to nvidia to see if that makes any difference.

I'll let you guys know how I go when it gets here.

So after I ordered online and paid for my new graphics card that I really couldn't afford this pay-month...

I uninstalled AMD catalyst centre, ran some program callled DriverSweeper, which deleted the atikmag.sys file that I was having issues with, which then killed my windows. After a couple of failed restarts, Windows repair and a system restore I was able to get back into my computer. I read somewhere about turning off the aero windows theme, so I did that too.

And Sim City hasn't crashed at all. I've been playing with a friend online, can access region view fine, visit my friend's city and no crashes. Maybe Im just on a good streak and it will crash later, but Ive been playing for a couple of hours now. And it normally crashed within 10 mins for me.

    We'll see.

My Graphic card is a nVidia already and I have this issue.  It's a older one as my PC is a older PC, but that's no excuse for a game that runs just fine one minute and then kills my video signal the next minute!

Guys, I've been playing for hours, and no crashes. I forgot to write above, but I also swapped servers and started a new city.

Apparently what I did has worked for me. And  I was getting constant BSOD since release. Have you guys tried these things yet?

I tried that, same exact problem.  I haven't been able to play this game for more then 2 minutes.  Right now it's just not worth it.  One of these times when it crashes and I have to hard reset my PC, It's going to try to boot up and fail and then I'm going going to be completely PISSED!!!

What's worse, they won't even acknowledge this issue at all.  No matter how many people report this problem.  THIS GAME SUCKS and I'll continue to post that everywhere.  DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP GAME!   This is from someone who's been a huge SimCity fan since the very Original on my Commodore 64!!!  A  complete waste of my $60.  A $60 game that one of these times will completely corrupt my PC from it's major issue!!!

On a PC that normally is running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with zero problems.  Enough FANS to keep everything Cool.   This is the ONLY Game or anything else for that matter that KILLS my Video Signal each and every time in a matter of a couple minutes of playing the game.  This is a serious issue that should have been FIXED right off the bat, not ignored!!!
