Region Not Sharing Resources / Status Checks between cities

Was on NA east 2 earlier, sent a total of 500k in gifts to a second city of mine and nothing has since arrived a few hours later.  My girlfriend also can't buy any power from me despite having over 200MW excess in my main town.  It says she's buying 0 MW even though she's short a good 50 MW or so.  Something is definitely wrong with that server.

Oceanic 1 isn't working properly. Got cities with 50MW+ extra power, and my city needs 20.. buying from 2 different cities..was working, now it's not and businesses close all over the place.

Utterly useless.

If the server goes down or is disconected from your game it will not take effect until the server is reconnected to your game to update it seems.

Watch the warning messages about that on the top left of your games.

Also buying power from a neighboring city only seems to last a day or a week at the most right now in actual game play time.

I exchanged power between 2 of my cities and it automaticly shut off before I noticed how long it lasted in game time.

But it takes a server conection to update certain things you do in the game.

Can anyone confirm that the NA East Coast 3 server has working cross city communication?

EU East 2 seems to have this issue.  Wow...what a gong show...

There is no good reason to have an external dependency for local resource sharing in a closed game.  None.  The funny thing is, all of this talk of how hard it would be  to rip out the online part is shown to be BS by these issues.  The game still works, it dosnt blow up....just route these resources local instead of pushing up to some S3 bucket.

I feel for the developers...its such a poor attempt at making an online game, it shows in the way it fails.  Its not a hard failure, it just cant update a set or params that could have just as well been stored locally.  

I had stuff work again in my NA West 1 region today but in nowhere near reliable or timely fashion.

I agree that it makes way more sense to handle this stuff locally when syncing between cities owned by the same player.

This is getting so frustrating. I was originally running into these problems (departments not sharing/gifts not gifting/commuters not commuting/utilities not trading) in my private region on North America East 2 which is a server it looks like everyone is having this problem with, so I bit the bullet and started making a new region on West 4, assuming that a brand new server would work better. I built up a really solid industrial/power city and when I started to hit the wall and wanted to start my education/residential city I was unable to buy power or water from the power city and no one was commuting anywhere. I gave it a couple in-game days in both cities to see if it would work, but to no avail.

Then I popped back on my cities on East 2, mostly because I didn't really want to bother working on my cities in West 4 until the region play started working and I wanted something to do, and then lo-and-behold, region play was miraculously working for me on East 2. I could set up trade deals and watch the neighbouring mayor drive over and activate it. What was unfortunate was that I had lost all my mayoral momentum in those cities and had gotten so much better and made a way more compelling region on West 4. I hopped back over there, hoping that maybe everything was working now that East 2 was, but nope. My region on West 4 is still broken.

This is seriously, totally, completely frustrating. I just want it to work. Please? It's so annoying that I had a better play experience once I finally got in on launch day than I have on any day since then. Things have just gotten worse. It looks like they're getting better now, but It'd be nice to have an update on this issue. I assume it's related to the turning off of the other social features like leaderboards and achivements, so if the servers are so much better now can we just turn those back on please? Sigh.

This is on NA West 4.

So I am in an active region with maybe 6 players and my first city sync things perfectly with the region, I have 0 departments but I get all unlocks. I also built oil power and the upraded water supply with excess in resources. Then I picked up an abandoned city beside me and it isn't synced with the region, unlocked stuffs in my first city are still locked, and when I try to buy water and power from my first city the available resources are so limited that it seems to be displaying my first city's resources prior to my upgrades.
