So, I have a fully upgraded late 2013 retina MBP. I like Simcity, and I'm (unlike so many others-I'm lucky) not prone to *a lot* of lag issues. However, I have three main problems. 1. Retina displa...

It will run better than Mac OS X buy far.
I suspect your GT 750m is about the same as my GTX 650 desktop model and I can barely get all medium at 1080p. It starts lagging a little late game when mapo starts filling up and traffic gets really busy. But for the most part very playable.
Expect retina or anything higher than 1080p to be slower.
And no, it's not a real beefy card. It has 384 shader processors. AMD has the same for on-chip integrated video themselves. For comparison my GTX 780 has 2304 shader processors(max settings, no lag). My GTX 650 Ti has 768 Shader Processor (twice as my GTX 650) all medium, no lag whatsoever, even while recording in-game video.
so basically you have standard integrated graphics with the 750m, although it is much, much faster than Intel graphics which are always way slower than everyone else. but the minimum for AMD (ATI).
But expect at least a 25% increase overall proformance in Windows than Mac OS X.
Also, thunderbolt may be tied to integrated video. Not 100% sure, but I know the Intel chipset is optimized for Thunderbolt. You may want to check settings, as you can switch from integrated (HD 5200) to dedicated (GT 750m)
If you go lower than 1080p, you can go higher graphical settings. 1366 x 768 is the Nvidia recommenmdation for running this card for the best performce. If you install the GeForce Experience, iot should automatically setup the best performance for a constant 30 fps or better game. It'll start out higher, but get around 30 late game.
Hi,
I have a macbook with a nvidia 8600M GT. I'm now playing in Mac OS but it's a little slow, it would be better if I try it with bootcamp??
That would appear to be the consensus, yes.
did you end up doing this? Im getting Windows 10 soon and Ive heard its much better to run games on a boot camped mac. Hows it working for you?
