simcity-black screen

I had the same problem, and followed this:

In Origin

go to applicantion setting ----> In game

and now just TURN OFF "ENABLE ORIGIN IN GAME" and then apply , turn off origin, run as admin simcity. well origin will pop on again but the game worked for me :/

I have tried this and the game still won't play. Could this be a internet problem and our computers are too slow to connect to the servers?

Yep I'm seeing the same problem - game loads up with a black screen and the mouse can move but nothing else happens (flickers a bit periodically).

Any info on how to fix this?

(running a microsoft surface pro).

I already installed that (to get around the "virtual environment" error).  Now Simcity loads up but gets stuck on the black screen.

I am having the same problem.  It happened after all the servers crashed over this past weekend (8-11 Mar).  Are there any additional solutions?

I see a lot of people with this problem on different threads.  This problem started for me when I upgraded my video card to get better quality.

First I couldn't get into SimCity without the black screen with the music playing in the background.  Then I tried to re-run the Windows Experience Index test and it also black-screened.  Then I tried another video benchmarking program and it too black-screened.

My new video card required that it be connected to the power supply using the included cable.  Mine was connected, but apparently was on too many splitters and wasn't getting enough power.  Once I changed which connector it was on, all of the above problems were solved!

Please check to see if you can run the Windows Experience Index test in Control Panel > System.  If you get a black screen there too, you may have the same issue and not be getting enough power to your video card.

Turn off Stereoscopic 3d if you have it on. I had it on and once I turn it off it immediatly work. Hope it works out for you.

any news on that issue? I'm new to the game and experience the same problem.
