SimCity buildings in holes
Sometimes when I open my cities there are a bunch of buildings in holes. It also appears that there are a bunch of problems happening that weren't happening when I saved and closed the game the last ...
The road looks like it's all the same height here...but there's a hole on that corner.
And look what happens when I drag the maglev over the road that has holes!
@KStamp18 - Yep, it still looks like a sunken road to me 🙂
I'm having a hard replicating the exact "look", although I've seen it many times. Here are a couple of quick, sort of similar looks:
When I place parks on the sunken road, the park sinks the land to a flat surface. Then, the surrounding zones can look like they're elevated, or sometimes cause the "hole" look you're seeing. If you're placing over water, it will sometimes look different, sort of like water. Here I captured the road disappearing and the water underneath suddenly appearing:
In your pictures, it looks to me like the maglev station is higher up on the road, and the land beside it is sunken.
Did you make a copy of your save and delete the roads & maglev? I think if you do that, then redraw them (keeping them level with the land), the issue will go away. Or you might see there's something underneath that is causing it. The power map might be the best one to look at to see if there's something underneath. If there's no power flowing on something, it will at least blink.
Let me know what happens - I'm interested if you can figure it out
So if it's the roads that are causing this issue, why then does the problem go away when I delete the building but not the road? Also, if the roads are always off on their height, why do a quarter of the buildings in my city sink all at the same time? Why wouldn't they always be in the holes from the first building that goes up on that spot? I'm still investigating, but I don't see how that could be the problem. Also, the odds of me accidentally hitting the m or n button that many times is highly unlikely. Just saying...
Did you delete the roads & maglevs? You can do a "file > save as" & just use a copy to see what happens. Or delete them & redraw, and if you don't see a change, then exit without saving.
There are times when the residential or commercial buildings won't sink, but those parks or maybe the maglev stations will, causing it to look like the buildings are raised next to the area. Your resolution might have something to do with the way it looks so dramatic, too. I don't know how else to describe it.
