as Simcity is an old game i don't EA will be updating it to 64bit anytime soon
I found a workaround. I purchased this weeks Cities Skylines + DLC Humble Bundle
Just reinstalled this game for the first time in ages as I was looking for something to do in this lockdown and came across this issue. Oh well ☹️
@icarlamThe only solution is for EA to update the game to make it 64bit compatible on macOS Catalina. Other than downgrading your OS, your only other options are re-purchasing in the Mac App Store, or looking into Cities: Skylines on Steam. I've been playing Cities for a couple weeks now and it's good, but just isn't SimCity.
Did you find any solution? It just happened to me! I bought the game because it said it was compatible to Mac and now I am not being able to install it or find a solution. I don't want my money back, I want my game to work!
- @TheFratBoy March 29 2020 still no update.... still waiting EA!!!!
I wasted $30 on this. I have spent over 1000 on origin just for sims games ALONE and this is frustrating enough to make me never give you people another dollar. what a waste of hard earned money I am so mad. literally fuming. I have spent hours trying to figure this out, I even deleted ALL OF MY EA AND SIMS CONTENT trying to figure this out and at his point I am over it and ready to sell my ea account because this is so bogus I could scream. thanks for robbing me!!!!! NOT!!!! literal trash that I didn't go to a forum to see if a game would work before downloading it on my $3000 computer. never have I been so mad over $30 and y'all just lost a life long customer that's how mad I am!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ellamaree8 You could also install Mojave on an external hard drive or USB stick, then boot into that and install SimCity. I installed Mojave on an external drive a few weeks ago, and it runs pretty well, although I didn't test SimCity specifically. All you'd need was temporary access to a Mac running Mojave or earlier, and the ability to download the installer (6 GB) onto that computer. Here are directions:

This is so frustrating! EA have said they have no plans to make SimCity 64-bit, which means we either have to purchase it AGAIN on the mac app store as ASPYR have the updated version, or go through the whole process of reverting your entire computers OS back to Mojave! So disappointed and mad ☹️
@courtenee There's been no announcement from EA about updating SimCity to be 64-bit, either for Windows or macOS. We can't know for sure, but it seems unlikely that EA is ever going to make a new version.
Since you just bought the game, you can request a refund. Here's how:
