Simcity Societies: Destinations keeps playing the base game instead

Whenever I try to play Destinations, it returns to Societies, the base game instead.  I tried using the launcher in the Destinations files, but it's the same problem. Compatibility and reinstallatio...

Still an issue. 

I just (re)bought the game and have the same problem. Bought from EA app store, only the base game is launching. the Add-on downloaded, but the expansion never runs, EVEN when you go into the folder and try to launch it via the SCS destinations launcher. Tried all sorts of things to 'trick' the launcher but doesn't work.
