SimCity won't start
I just downloaded the new SimCity last night using Origin. The problem is that when I try to launch the game, the cursor blinks as though the computer is working, but the game simply doesn't launch. ...

Temporary FIX:
In Origin:
click Origin
then programsettings (or something like that, my Origin is Dutch so I don't know what it is in English)
then click the tab In-Game
then disable Origin In-Game(eventhough Origin thinks it's supported it isn't)
Now start the game and enjoy!
Downsides to this fix:
Inviting friends is weird or doesn't work at all.
You don't have the features of Origin In-Game (duh)
Possible Casue:
The language of Simcity differs from the language of Origin, at leased that's the case for me. (Origin Dutch, SimCity English)
p.s: Please make my post the solution so Maxis will see my possible cause so they might be able to fix this.
unfortunately this is not the solution for alot of people. I also tried your solution btw a week ago.
The game just wont run. I do have the specs too run the game. Weird thing is when i install from dvd the game launches but wont regonize the serial key.
So the launcher of download simcity is differnt then the lancher of dvd. I guess it will take a couple of months before maxis finaly has some time to solve this problem
