time

In Simcity, how does time pass?  Is the clock and date at the bottom of the game screen 1:1 (aka "real time") or is it accelerated.  For examples, how long is a second, a minute, an hour, a day, a month, and a year, of game time in real time?  Does in take 30 24-hour cycles of the game clock to equal 1 month?

Hey @nsiebold from what I recall, an hour in-game is something like 2 minutes in real-time and when you fast forward it is considerably shorted.

  • Hi @nsiebold - as Darko said, the time in SimCity is not "real time" and which speed you use greatly affects how long in real time it takes to pass. I've never used a stopwatch to figure out the actual conversion, but found This Post from someone who did. The times listed sound about right to me, except for their day/month. A SimCity month is equal to a SimCity day (24 hours). So, it will probably take about 15 hours real time in normal speed to play a full SimCity month, or 2 hours real time in Cheetah speed.

I play in normal speed and pause a lot, and it always seems to go by faster than I expected 🙂
