Unable to create your city at this time. Please claim a city again later

Seriously?????  This is why I drove out after hours of work and spent $65 for......to be refused to play a game online that must be online to play???  Yeah, doesn't make sense to me either.  I cannot create a city!  WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?????

I really don't even want this game anymore, extremely let down.  Help with a refund???

why would ea games make this game online only.  We are not actually paying for it to be online. I understand

the option of playing onine, but this is sim city. I was hoping this would be better then the last one.

You cannot make your own map, you can only play if you get online. Game will probably be gone in 2 years. 

I have all the sim city games, even on nintendo.  I guess I could hook my old system up and play the game like

it should be played. This is not call of duty.  The maps are so small. ugh so disappointed.  unable to change terrain. oh i cant go on, blood pressure is getting high.

Have over 2 hours "played" on this game. Yet to actually get into a city...   Tried MANY servers...

How very sloppy.  How unprofessional.

The beloved classics were personal experiences without dependency on something as unreliable and impermanent as a connection to - and the proper funcitoning of - arbitrary servers.  This was a foolish decision with an appropriate result.

Please resolve this matter quickly.  This is shameful.

Adding to the 27 pages, I too cannot claim a city to play SimCity.

Same issue for me. I managed to play through the tutorial, but that's the sum and substance of my experience with this game. What a ridiculous, shameful charade of a launch.  The fact that the SimCity twitter feed is firing away useless updates without addressing what is obviously an ongoing, widespread server problem is beyond understanding.

I hope people lose their jobs over this. Imagine, fellow gamers, how immediately and brutally you would be fired from your job - whatever it is - if you handled it this badly.

So, nearly 48 hours later and I still can't play.  On launch I managed to get the tutorial to load, played through the tutorial, got to claim a city....which I then got to play for 10 minutes before the game crashed.  Since then, I haven't been able to play.  Today it's telling me I need to go through the tutorial again (even though I joined the same server I'd finished the tutorial on yesterday) but I can't...when it's trying to load the tutorial city I get the message "Unable to load the city at this time.  Please try again". 

It would be a good show of faith if EA returned a portion of the purchase price to all customers by way of apology for this mess.  Hell, a few months ago I called my cable company because my On Demand movies weren't available - not only did they fix it within 24 hours, they took 15% off my bill for that month. 

A small gesture sure, but I appreciated it.  Obviously they value my continuing business...EA doesn't. 

I totally agree with you. I spent the 80 freaking dollars for the deluxe version and now I can't even play. There must be some sort of compensation coming to everybody sticking through this.
