Honest thoughts on the March playthrough

I just wanted to drop a few thoughts on my experience this go on the playtest.  I really have felt honored to be able to get in to these playtests a few times now and I would feel bad if I didn't take a few minutes to just thank the team and express my gratitude for such a cool project.

Since I last played, so much has improved in the area of character models and customization.  I really like the progress here and think everything is shaping up so well.  The city is feeling more and more detailed with much more realistic lines to explore and places to get a "real" feeling experience to.  I find myself setting up areas to get a nice replay off of just like I did in all the previous titles.

I think the challenges are getting better as far as difficulty compared to the other previous playtests.  The lines and technicality is getting a lot more fun and interesting which I appreciate a whole lot.  I feel like many of them have re-playability because of this.  Watching other people is a really cool feature that I hope to see kept throughout launch, it definitely inspires the same feeling of trying to match another skaters energy when having a session.

I only run in to the feeling of the game feeling a bit laggy at times which takes the real feel down a touch but I can understand that being a thing at this stage of the game. There is of course the running in to invisible textures here and there but I'm sure all that gets polished later.  Some of the starting dialogue and walkthroughs seem a bit meh, but I still think they are mostly fundamental for new players to the Skate universe.

I think the shop items and board customization is great.  It really feels like you can develop your own style pretty easily.  I don't mind the paid options for those who want to support and have exclusive items.  With a game that centers around something like skateboarding, it doesn't take away from the experience at all for anyone.

All in all, I just really appreciate all the hard work that has went in to this and wanted to drop my thoughts.  I can't wait til everything is complete and everyone can appreciate all the time put in!

Much love from a lifelong ripper!

There definitely is a lot of rough takes but in the end I know this game will come out fantastic!  I think the thing that seems the hardest to compete with is nostalgia so I can see everyone being a bit more negative when it comes to worrying something won't live up to the older titles that we all spent infinite hours on haha. I'm just thankful for the opportunity to check out the hard work and have a team that really pays attention to the fans of the series,

  • I think they're doing great with the game so far. I love skating and I'm a long time fan of the skate series as well. I've enjoyed all of the challenges and getting new drip for my skater. The vert gameplay is so much better in this instalment too. Maybe I was just a dumb kid but even just doing a simple axle stall feels way more fluid and satisfying, and I find myself trying to go for realistic skate lines instead of just doing the craziest thing my fingers can think of like in Skate 3. I can't wait for them to add more handplants and I was stoked when I saw they had no complys. Only thing I think I could ask for is a mode or setting that changes the gameplay to be more unforgiving and realistic like realistic mode in Skate 3.
