paywall? it’s a limited time one from my understanding. after that it’s rip chips which are earnable in game.
“paywall” means actual cash spent.
i’m all for feedback but this sounds like you misunderstood.

You’re forgetting those who pay REAL MONEY for PASS, get access for a whole month before. So yeah “paywall”

Even if it’s temporary, it’s still a paywall. If access to a specific area is tied to the skate. Pass, and the skate. Pass costs SVB — which can be bought with real money — then that’s monetized access. That’s a microtransaction gate. They even removed the sticker from their discord "No Map Areas Locked Behind Paywall" clear indicator and a middle finger to everyone who believed in this game.

whether its payed with actual $ or time spent its still a point that cannot be accessed without paying, therfore it is a pay wall.

It's not temporary. What is temporary is your access if you dint give them money. You get 24 hours to play it for free on at Saturday. Thats it. Then its gone again. I dont know why anyone supports EA at this point. Garbage company.

You're right, HOWEVER... a limited paywall is still a paywall. Keep in mind that what players were asking for was to be able to simply go back to the tutorial area, a spot that literally every player who has ever played the game got to enjoy immediately and for free. I don't think it's super egregious or anything, but I don't think "paywall" is too hard of a word.
Besides that I also think tacking a rip chip cost onto accessing the map sucks. I'm sure they're doing this to get us players to spend the rip chips we've all been accumulating, but the actual solution to that would have been giving us more cosmetics we could spend them on instead of just what we got from the boxes. Considering how limited the current map is in terms of both size and the uniqueness of individual spots, I think putting another barrier between the player and the new (not exactly "new") area is a bad move. It sets a bad precedent for any new parts of the map set to open up in the future too.
