Registering R1 on darkflips

Holding R1 as you prepare to do a darkside flip, if its more than half a second or so before the flip doesn't register the darkside catch trigger. This means I cant prepare for the flip and must do it right as I do the trick. While it might be a quality of life thing, it would be very appreciated if there was a buffer or if the holding of R1 would keep registering as its held down.
