Where is the soul?
Hello I played skate 2 and 3, I skateboarded a lot but was never good. I am a somewhat regular gamer. I have played maybe 8 hours of the new skate game. My biggest concerns are as follows. 1: Lack of soul. What do I mean? Well when they first announced the game their was a big emphasis on "working with the community to give the community what they want". However that has panned out to be a very insulting lie. Or the community they were talking about was 12 year olds. No campaign is a massive deal. What is the purpose of the game? Why do I care about this random island im on. What am I supposed to do? The challenges? The challenges are pretty forgetable, along with the world. I HATE that the core mechanic of leveling up is tied to the item shop. It is such a clear and gross cash grab for a game that has such a passionate and cult like following. I am not someone who pays a lot of attention to the skate community anymore, im a adult with different hobbies now. However this is a skateboardoing game. Where is the skate brands? Why are there fursuits and scare crows running around and i cant wear supras? Or put a birdhouse, baker, etc or any skate brand on my board?( I am aware their is girl, vans and thrasher). I am not someone who cares for the realism too much in skate games in skate 3 i played easy difficulty cause it was a blast, but this game feels too arcade like in its mechanics even for me seeing it through that skate 3 easy perspective. I played skate3 and 2 a lot in the last few months so i know im not seeing through nostalgia when it comes to my opinions. Its a sad Uninstall for me. I will continue to play the old games. It is clear to me that EA and the skate team has lied to our faces and is looking to make a quick buck with this title.
