GUYS READ THIS PLEASE
First, I just want to say I really enjoy Skate. and I think it has the potential to be one of the best skateboarding games ever made. I understand it’s still in early access, I’ve been a play-tester since February 2024 and have seen the progression of development and enjoyed being apart of it. I wanted to share my thoughts about possible opportunities for the future of the Skate. game and hope you take to heart and consider what I have to say, :). The foundation is there, the mechanics and physics are absolutely perfect, on point! But I think there are some important areas that could be improved or expanded on to make the game feel more alive, more authentic, and more connected to skate culture. I wanted to share my thoughts in detail because I care about this game and want to see it succeed. Here are my thoughts and hope you enjoy… Even though there are already pedestrians and some graffiti, the world still feels like it’s missing energy and skate culture. Skating in a real city should feel alive, with people watching, music in the background (which is in the game but doesn’t offer as many real classic skate songs as many would like), street art popping up over time, flyers, skate shops (just for the look, I know there is actual shops currently but more that are in game that you can go in), murals, and even crowds gathering when you do big tricks in different areas. More ambient life, street vendors, random big community events, would make the world feel lived in and immersive. Right now, the city feels more like a backdrop than a living environment. The visuals feel too plain and clean for skateboarding, not just personally but I’m sure your aware many have the same viewpoint. Skate culture has grit, texture, and personality, and the art style should reflect that. It would be great if the characters looked more realistic, with more variety in skater styles, outfits, and boards. Features like wear-and-tear on boards and clothing over time, scuffed shoes, or worn-out grip tape would make it feel more authentic. Being able to fully customize characters would also be amazing—tattoos, jewelry, watches, pants, shoes (even customizing colors and designs on shoes), and more detailed control over clothing styles. That level of customization would let every player create a truly unique skater that feels connected to the culture. I’m a man and I also find it really annoying when I spend a lot of time trying to unlock those boxes and all I get is women crop tops and rainbow socks it’s just super disappointing Filming is a huge part of skateboarding culture, but the current replay editor feels too limited. It’s glitchy right now obviously it’s still early access so I don’t expect it to be perfect. Adding features like camera keyframes, full control over angles, zoom, focus, speed adjustments, trimming, filters, and the ability to save and share clips would make filming a major part of the game. Skating is about creativity, and being able to capture and share lines properly would give players another reason to keep playing. The maps feel repetitive and empty. There aren’t enough diverse skateparks, mega ramps, street spots, or creative obstacles to make skating exciting for long sessions. Having multiple maps with different vibes would make a big difference: gritty alleys, urban plazas, rooftops, indoor parks, mega parks, and creative street spots designed for skating. It would also be incredible to support community or modded maps on consoles, so players can share their creations and keep the game fresh for years. A huge part of skateboarding is the brands and sponsorships. Bringing more skate brands into the game would give it authenticity and connection to the real culture. It would also be exciting to have a sponsorship system in the game, where players can work toward being sponsored by real brands, unlocking gear, clothes, and boards. This would give progression more meaning and tie directly into skateboarding culture. Playing with friends is one of the best parts of skateboarding, A co-op story mode would be amazing, letting you progress with friends. Competitive features like challenges, throwdowns, or contests would also make sessions more exciting. Split-screen is so important anyways, that’s all I have to say I hope that people will read this and I hope that EA will read this and have a change of heart and hopefully make the needed changes to make the game a lot betterDifficulty identifying /hitting windows for tricks during challenges
So I've had this issue on a number of challenges, however, "JUST PASSIN THRU" is the challenge that gave me enough thought to try and make a post. I've played every single skate release religiously, born '95, skater since '00. Just to say I have experience with the game and I am not a new player, I am not giving this info to backup any reasoning of me trying to say something like "it should be this way". The issue I have found with multiple challenges lies with tricks and obstacles linked to "in one sequence", or are otherwise named but are not given a highlighted area during the challenge. I mostly run into this issue on LINE challenges, and OWN THE SPOT where a grade of "SHUT IT DOWN" requires all tricks to be completed in one try. I will try and catalogue the names of the other challenges as best as I can if I see them back in rotation. It seems like there is some disparity between either: (1) the game does not recognize when I do a specified trick over/on specified obstacle. [OR] (2) the player, (AND THIS COULD BE MY OWN SKILL ISSUE) is not so easily aware when to perform the trick or which trick is being asked of the player. I know I probably already seem stupid as you are reading, but if you are in a challenge and just look at the list of requirements, you'll see something on the list along the lines of "fliptrick over the stairs" and I've spend multiple, multiple tries on these types of challenges, landing plenty of nollie lazers over stairs only to realize it is showing me a "how-to" of a kickflip for the right stick commands and as soon as I just do a plain kickflip as my final "fliptrick down the stairs" now I have fully completed the challenged and have subsequently "SHUT IT DOWN" So, the real challenge in example "JUST PASSIN THRU": the list of requirements: total score HIPPY JUMP THE PIPE REVERT THE OIL SPILL slip trick over final barrier ALL IN ONE ATTEMPT so I have gotten every requirement separately, on many runs that feel like its all in one go. but I notice that the REVERT, and HIPPY JUMP are very inconsistent. first, I figured out you can only TAP! X+A for it to count as a HIPPY JUMP, holding down the buttons to prepare for the jump almost never gave me the check off for that task. and additionally, speed became and issue because tapping at high speeds means I have to tap sooner and it wouldn't register seemingly because I started the trick before the game determined me to be close enough to the obstacle second, it is really inconsistent for me to get the completion for the REVERT, I'm not sure if the game is expecting a specified frontside/backside or if fakie/switch/nollie nullifies the trick (I've seen this for "kickflips" on other challenges) but it at least seems hard to know the timing of when my revert starts/ends on the oil patch and how forgiving the game is on the attempt. to be completely honest, I would rather the game NOT put a highlighted area for the OIL SPILL for this challenge, I'm just saying specifically for this challenge look at where it is expecting the player to perform the trick because its dim lighting in the parking garage where the challenge takes place (I'm on max setting Rx6600) and it also looks like a large area of oil spill, one attempt I did 3 reverts and the challenge still didn't count it. All in all, I have no argument against the game. I merely hope that my observations will help the dev team. All of my issues might purely be a skill issue and I'm willing to accept that if it is the case. I don't feel like any of these issues have harmed my game experience in any way and if this post is a waste of peoples times I wholeheartedly apologize. Shred On.Advanced manual challenge - bugged or too challenging
The advanced manual challenge just doesn’t seem to count 2 flip tricks and 2 manuals in a sequence - keeps starting new sequence. Noticed many people complaining about this challenge on Reddit - can’t get past this point… can’t progress past this point and may need to put the game away due to itHesh & Fresh Progression Feedback
Instead of having 4 missions per week you should reward the currency on random events but just adjust the math to be the same per week. I am dissapointed almost every day logging in and seeing no new Hesh & Fresh missions. You could make each daily give you 1-5 tickets. So your main events stay the highlight but a tiny drip of progress for your dedicated players.Unable to gain points in daily tasks
Since the season 1 update, I haven't been able to receive points through my weekly tasks. I was able to receive points for the daily tasks ONCE. This is crazy. I don't see a point in progressing in this game if the incentives are bugged like this. I've been a fan of skate since day 1. This is ridiculous.
