Many of the game codes for extra content would have an expiration date, if you are past that date or if the online services are no longer available then you will not be able to redeem a code. The Wii online store closed in 2019: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27560/~/wii-shop-channel-discontinuation
