Since 2013 EA have focused their business on 'games as a service' i.e. everything must be multiplayer, season passes and microtransaction. Basically maximize profit. They dont care about offline and single palyer cos although it brings in profit it doesnt maximize profit like these services do. Hence they provide some minimal token service to these single player features in order try and shut up complainers and claim they are listening to their customers when really they are not.

It seems Disney are the real key to change regarding loot crates. With children also being players, involving them in gambling with real money does not fit the family friendly face of Disney and they didnt like the PR EA was giving them and Star Wars regarding this.

If we want predatory loot box type transactions not to come back to this game, we should really complain to Disney if/when EA bring them back. E.g. tweet complaint to @DisneyStudios and @starwars
