Are Tanks Too Fragile?? ( Hiding/running away instead of Leading) Dev Question

I noticed in my last few matches that players using Tanks couldn't push forward. They've been cowering in the back of the battles while heavies, officers, and heroes fought center stage. When players finally did decide to push forward, they were quickly destroyed before they could reach their objective because of their enormous size, slow turning speed, and the number of enemies in galactic who can also use anti-vehicle weaponry., ( Turrets,  Cannons, Smart Grenades, ect)  without spending any battlepoints

In short, the tanks were too fragile to do their job. Isn't this the opposite of how a tank functions??? Shouldn't players feel confident marching behind and underneath their friendly tanks?? With the current Meta, Yoda, officers, and Wookie Warriors hold a position and advance better than the tanks can. Instead of running for their life, players aren't  intimidated by the tanks at all and just look at them as giant mech-pinatas. In some situations they've exploded so quickly that they felt hollow and weren't made of metal. 

Honestly its pulling me away from the Star Wars experience a bit because there's a level of respect they held in the movies that isn't showing up on the battlefield. For the amount of battle points it costs to use a tank, its really underwhelming on both sides of the spectrum. If you use a tank,  you have to keep running away and hiding instead of pushing the pace. When fighting against one, there's no intimidation or excitement because they can be destroyed with handguns...

For me personally, I think the speeders have just the right balance for what they are. They're fast and fun, and can be destroyed in a fair amount of time. But the'res a gameplay dropoff when it comes to the other vehicles and tanks. Their damage output is fine but I do believe they need a bit more health and armor in Galactic Mode.

Thoughts???

  • I just wonder how the Devs feel about vehicle balance. 

    Am I missing something?

    Do they want (starships/tanks) to feel like egg shells?? Or is this just part of the development process for something later??

    ... Similar to how Overwatch re works things
