Battle Of Jakku Game Crash (Campaign Only)

Hi there,

My game has been running mostly seemlessly, the occasional stutter going into cut scenes, until I reached the Battle of Jakkuu.

Game just freezes and crashes within the first few seconds. Browsed around the forums but can't find any recent post on the subject. Most seemed to be from 2018 which means slightly older GPUs too.

My build contains

NVDIA GeForce RTX 2017

Intel i7-4770k CPU @3.5 ghz

ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87

It's otherwise a real stable machine and has no issues with any other game currently installed.

So far I've tried the following:

-Disabled any kind of overlay whilst game is on (including origin ingame, xbox game bar)

-reinstalled the game

-updated all nvidia drivers

Another post mentioned using DX11 but that was also from 2018. Any ideas that dont' require regressing sofware?

What's odd is that it only happens on that campaign fight, I don't seem to have any issues with other single player or multiplayer aspects.

Hope somebody can help!

Cheers

Gorba

I seem to have found the solution that got me through that point...

On that same aforementioned file "ProfileOptions_profile" a few lines above the one regarding DX12 there's one about enabling HDR. I disabled that too since my monitor isn't HDR currently and I went through the point the game was crashing.

For anyone else that might have the same or similar problem, all you got to do is change that 1 on the end of the entries to 0. I guess it's simple binary yes/no thing.

    Thanks for your input!

  • DX11 is just a toggle in the graphics settings and wont change how the game works. Perhaps it will work for just getting over the spot you are having issues with and then you can toggle dx12 back on?

That solution is the easier alternative to my other possible workaround which would be to downclock you CPU, Memory graphics card to slightly below stock values to for the chips to increase stability.

Hey buddy, thanks for the reply.

So I had a quick search aroudn the web about how to revert back to DX11, but most posts seem to claim that everything is backward compatible and it should work.

On the other hand, other forums mentioned changing lines certain files located C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II\settings

in the file ProfileOptions_profile there's a line that says "GstRender.EnableDx12 1" I changed that 12 to 11, but it crashed again. When I reopened that file after the crash, it added the original line back to where it was. Not sure if this was correct thing to try or not.

Any ideas of what the process is by any chance? What you described sounds pretty easy, though can't seem to figure out where such a toggle might be!
