Browser not Supported ?

Apologies if this is covered somewhere ...I just couldn't find anything about the subject.

When I click on say Read the News For Star wars BF2 in the Games events and updates section ...the Browser launches OK but I get the message

  Browser Not Supported

Sorry, your browser is not currently supported. Please download a supported browser to view this site.

Star wars Battlefront 2 seems to work AOK.

Currently using IE vers 11.309.16299.0 ....hopefully the most up to date version (MS Edge is a dead loss with many other issues so not ever going to try). Also tried Chrome and Safari with no luck. Amazingly I managed to get to these pages ...but most of the EA website appears to be a no go zone? No issues with other sites.

Any suggestions? What Browser versions are supported? Issue seems(???) to have started post last update?

  • Internet Explorer is dead. It's not being developed, websites are not being tested on it, it's just dead.

EA sites, like most others really, is being optimized for the 3 big released browsers, currently:

    • Windows Edge v.41
    • Google Chrome v.65
    • Mozilla Firefox Quantum v.59

Internet Explorer will give you that warning. If you use beta versions or too old versions of the above-mentioned browsers you might also get it.

If you have weird internet optimizer applications or other software that caches your content then you might also get it.

    Hey @chuntery

I assume you're talking about the official Star Wars Battlefront website? I'm using Chrome version 63.0.3239.132 and I haven't encountered any problems so far.

Can I ask if you've tried to clear your browsing history? Maybe some old cookie files are preventing our websites from loading 🤭

Also, could you give us links to some website, which are not working for you? We'll investigate further.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I have deleted all internet files, cookies and web browser history ..... no change, still getting the all black screen with the message in white -  Browser not supported, sorry your browser is not currently supported. Please download a supported browser to view this site.

Didn't appear to be an issue prior to the last update ... however that could possibly be a simple coincidence. Other web sites appear AOK. This problem isn't limited to only one computer. Both run 64 bit Win 10 version 1709 and IE version 11.309.16299.0. Hardware is Intel I7-7700K, 32 GB RAM,

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for your reply.

I accept that IE's days are limited BUT why am I only currently getting problems with EA's website ....and only some of the pages?

I keep all my systems up to date as per Microsoft guidelines ...so apart from Microsoft updates, IE is basically a Vanilla installation with no toolbars, plug ins or add ins

Am I alone or have others seen similar issues with EA pages? I can't believe I am the only one using IE and EA? I see Chrome has the largest market share ....but there are still 3 times as many IE users as Edge users. I believe that the number of Firefox users is nearly on par with IE.

I personally do not see Edge as a good solution .... and will possibly wait on it's replacement.

Maybe its time to consider Firefox? (Under Windows 7 I had several issues, but when I switched a couple of machines to Ubuntu 16.04 it behaved perfectly)

    Thanks again.
