Can I recover my Epic Games progress with a Steam Copy?

I initially got into BF2 when the AE was free on Epic - since that time I have put in 2k+ Hours into it and it has become one of my all time favourite Games.

Problem is, my Epic Account is lost due to a hacked E-Mail. That is a fact, that can't be changed.

BUT my progress exists on the EA Launcher, the game just seeks to use the Epic Game to launch.

If I bought the Steam Version, which I inevitably will because I love this Game, can I somehow link it to my lost progress, or am I back to square one?
