Is the XP needed for character/class progression only obtained in battles played in Multiplayer mode?

You can play coop missions with 4 people online against AI and still lvl up everything like in normal multiplayer all kills etc etc count on coop.

So, in other words, you need PS Plus to be able to level up?

Co op is your best bet to level up trooper or heroes or to get milestones. You’d have a hard time leveling things in Galactic Assault or Supremacy, but I’m not saying that it’s impossible to do that.
@HCarbonic I remember the days before co op... had to grind out weapons/ attachments in Blast... and leveling heroes in GA sucked lol.
