The Rise of Skywalker Update

The next update for Star Wars Battlefront II is titled The Rise of Skywalker and as you might have guessed, it focuses on content around the upcoming, highly anticipated film.

So what’s coming in the update? First off we have a brand-new jungle planet. You might have caught a glimpse of this jungle like planet in the last trailer for Star Wars™: The Rise of Skywalker™. We’re bringing this planet to Co-Op in December, where you’ll be playing as either the Resistance or First Order as the conflict spreads to this tropical paradise.

A new planet is great but we’ve also previously mentioned new reinforcements, and this month we have four brand new ones arriving into the game, split evenly between the Resistance and the First Order.

Joining the ranks of the First Order will be the Sith Trooper, a merciless trooper excelling in speed and advanced weaponry to hunt down and destroy anyone that stands in their way.

Alongside the Sith Trooper will be the First Order Jet Trooper that has received new training and jetpack equipment to achieve dominance over the Resistance . Achieve aerial superiority over the Resistance by using your grenade-attachment enhanced blaster rifle as you dodge, hover and maneuver through the air.

Taking up arms for the Resistance will be the a Gunner and Spy unit. These are two new alien species from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Since the release of Co-Op, one of the big requests was focused around bringing new eras to the mode. This month we can confirm that the Sequel Trilogy will be arriving into Co-Op across the following maps: Jakku, Takodana, and our new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker inspired planet.

New appearances are also on the way. Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren will all be receiving a brand new appearance based on The Rise of Skywalker. These appearances will be available to everyone who owns the Celebration Edition, and also for credits and crystals.

The release of this update is ever so slightly different when compared to previous ones. It goes live on December 17, with one exception to this rule, the new planet, which joins our planetary rotations from December 20.

Into the New Year

It’s incredible to think we’re already in year 3 of the game’s life. With 2019 fast coming to a close our attention now turns towards what’s next.

In January, we will continue with Sequel Trilogy content as we will bring it to both Instant Action and Capital Supremacy. This includes the Resistance MC85 and First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer.

Rounding out January will also be two new heroes: BB-8 and BB-9E

We’re already thinking about February and March, and we’ll be back closer to the time with all the details on what to expect.

From all of us on the Star Wars Battlefront II team: Thank you for being a part of this journey and we look forward to seeing you in-game over the holiday season.

May the Force be with You

    @EA_Atic& others on this forum

Haven't posted for quite a while but would like to put a question to you all.

Re: Capital Supremacy ( I love this mode & play it almost exclusively).

Having played long and short matches in this mode, I have noticed that most of the long modes are when the republic clones are attacking the Separatist Cap ship and the shorter matches are the reverse. It seems to me that the Separatist ship is easier to defend due to the entry points to the cooling towers being all on one side and the three objective panels also being directly in front of those entry points meaning the droids can be position in a smaller area and still cover then entrances / objectives. Some will say that it makes it easier to destroy your target from a greater distance not having to go past those entry points and they are correct in some matches when the matchmaking is one sided or dropouts have created lopsided teams. But in most instances, if you stand still for more than a couple of shots, your dead.

On the Republic Cap ship, once the droids get past the doors they can spread out and attack from all directions. The spawn points for republic clones in most instances put you in a position having to chase droids that are between you and the objectives that you have to defend. Also having three cooling towers means you have to spread your troops over a larger area whilst also having to monitor your placement so in the heat of battle, you don't step over the edge of the bridges to the towers (ultimately committing suicide).

The difference to these scenarios can be from 1/2hr to 2hrs. What are your thoughts?

Whilst on the subject of long matches in CS, I am 71 yrs old and often have to take a bathroom break during a lengthy match. I was playing Naboo the other night and transitioned at least 4 times (around 1.45hrs playing time) and had to excuse my self for a minute or 2 or 3. I did this during a transition but by the time I got back to the game, I was already excluded. Lost all my points & credits but not any challenges/milestones. In a 2hr match that can be substantial credits. Can the idle timer be tweaked a little to allow for older players???

  • Perhaps they should give the Republic both sides of the ship to make it fair, like the original design

They made a mistake by lowering the health points of  the reactors, as predicted once the players started figuring out  the specific spot to shoot on the reactor  it would go down much quicker.

Also the ground phase has been cheapened, by bumping up the value of command post and shorting the times, its disallowed the chance for comebacks, and intense see-saw battles, in effect creating a more linear mode like GA.

Also getting on the transport ship has been deemphasized as they've shorten time to get there and give too much value time for the ship assault anyway,  so its no longer earned.

Even if a team plays great defense for 4 minutes, they can still be upset and loose in just a couple of cheap shots from just a few units.

Instead of doing all these frustrating things with time that handicap the mode, they could of done something more creative.

If you return to land phase for a third time, allow all Heros to be available on both sides, and then turn off 2 command post leaving the competing teams only with 3

LEVEL DESIGN Do something creative, like if one reactor is destroyed all lights in the ship are turned off, similar to nighttime Naboo palace, this would add great atmosphere to the level

  • I own Battlefront 2 Deluxe Edition on PS4 but I have it in disc form. I want to get the celebration edition but I know it’s only digital, so do I have to purchase the full game digitally to get it or can I get the $30 expansion which just adds everything in?

@raidernaphtali I had posted about adding immersive details to the game, and flickering lights would be an amazing touch to the ship phase! Honestly, giving everyone flashlights when its down to the last panel would be kinda cool, seeing emergency lights flashing. They could add more things to interact with in the ship, and on the ground phase, that don't make/break the game, but give an edge. Maybe only bring out these extra features after the first ship attack was unsuccessful. Make certain things only intractable by certain classes. Maybe only an officer or Specialist can access consoles.

    Immersion Post: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-Information/Side-Objectives-Interactions-and-Immersion/m-p/8529196/highlight/true#M9888

Emotes that pertain to objectives, vs just fun expressions and quotes, would compliment the new "marking objectives" feature. (i.e. I will often emote "KABOOM" to my team before running down the hall with all my explosives (grenade, grenade launcher, explosive sentry). Fun way to signal that I'm about to be reckless and awesome and everyone should push forward with me. Good times... lol Especially when it gets the other Heavies to pop their sentries out and walk in formation.

To help with the most important part of CS (tug of war/see-saw dynamic) I also think they should allow the defending team to re-capture the first console objective, causing doors to re-lock.

If you fail the ship phase, there should be a penalty when you return to the ground phase.

To stop those annoyingly short rounds, you just need to be familiar with some of the major CS strategies and tricks. There have been times we successfully defend the ship just with 2-3 of us staying on top of the following:

    • Officer Shields: Protect those panels! Especially useful against aerial units. They will fly in to pop off their rocket launcher then fly straight back out (lovely strategy, its nice to see some new ones pop up now and again). Sometimes a lack of coordination is to blame. During those last few slithers of HP urrrrrrybody should be popping up shields by the panel. An emote indicating shields would help communicate to other players...
    • Droidekas: As soon as those doors open (capturing the first objective), you need to roll all the way past the mess, straight to the back, and focus on unloading on the objective panels. CLONES NEED TO PAY ATTENTION AFTER THEY LOSE THE CONSOLES, and immediately fall back to respond to Droidekas if necessary.
    • Countering Droidekas: Just run immediately to the back if you lose the consoles. Chances are droidekas are already on their way back and about to start unloading...
    • Specialist Shields: I have protected the last bit of hp before just standing in front of the panel with my bubble shield. It isn't enough to cover it entirely, and really only works in those desperate last 10 second situations where you're about 2 shots away from losing.
    • Sentries: Constantly storming the droid center hallway usually leads to failure... but if you are 3-4 heavies with sentries out, steadily walking forward, you can usually clear it out. Don't get me started on adding Yoda to the mix 😉
    • Counter Sentries: Stingers and Acid launchers.

That being said... small tweaks are in order to provide a more consistent experience each round. Sadly, I have played countless matches that progress to the ship with 100% vs 0% ground phase completion, and immediately lose the ship phase.

  • Hey, i wanted to try the game out so i registered for a origin access basic subscription, and played the game. Im having fun and i wanted to upgrade because i figured it would be worth it, so i bought the whole package for 40+ Euro.
Booted up the game after awhile and there was no difference at all, so im wondering if i get the whole package with the basic access subscription, because i havent really found anything that says it does, i've just read that if i buy the origin premier access it does.
